Never underestimate the power of Polaroid...

So remember back when I had put a Polaroid camera on my Christmas Wishlist? Well, I forgot to let you all know - my wish came true! How exciting, right? Keeping in devoted-Polaroid-owner tradition, I've already started a mini photo collection - sticking all the photos I've taken (which is only 11, so far) on a designated area of my wall.
So, keeping all this in mind, you can imagine my excitement to come across this cool little feature on People.com: Polaroid snapshots of starlets backstage at NY Fashion Week! There's some really amazing shots here - that's the power of Polaroid...
Anne Hathaway - screening of 'Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton' documentary.

Eva Longoria Parker - backstage at Michael Kors.

Ashley Olsen - amfAR gala.

Sophia Bush - Rock and Republic.

Tyra Banks - backstage at Baby Phat.

Chloe Sevigny, Milla Jovovich, Paula Patton and Anne Hathaway - Miss Sixty.

Oh I feel absolutely inspired, now!

Catch.

oh my goodness. i love those! i have an addiction to polariods as well. they are so cool looking.

i have a polaroid camera as well, but film is so outrageously expensive that i never have the heart to use it. i can just photoshop my photos into polaroids.

what? anne hathaway looking interesting? heh!

I know, there is certainly an appeal to these photos (all polaroids)

But that won't be lasting for long, because it has been announced that factories will stop producing the film, so time to stock up!

End of an era, so sad. Fashion Orgasm did a post about it if you want a read.

Love these pics though, very cute!

Love polaroids. I used to have one of those mini cameras, but that's long gone. Better stock up because they're stopping production soon!

These are so nicely taken! I love polaroids, but so expensive to play with!

No! Say it ain't so! ...
I was in Ted's Camera Store yesterday checking to see how long film lasts - March 2009. Is it worth buying heaps if they're only going to last a year? I am so torn, right now...
Someone said it's possible that the technology could be taken over by someone else, who would continue production - this is our last hope, lol.

it sucks that they've discontinued polaroid cameras and polaroid products.

I have a polaroid collection of photos on my wall too. I acctualy went to the store and bought a huge case of polaroid film since it was being discontinued.

I just discovered your blog and i like it. Keep up the amazing work !
And check out my blog if you get the chance :)

Yes, they'll stop selling the film in stores in about a year, but it's possible to store the film. I forget the technicalities, but if you do decide to stock up, you can freeze them in the refrigerator (or freezer?). That's how eBay sellers are able to sell retro Polaroid film.

polaroids take such perfectly moody/stylized photos. the fashion industry loses a glamour star now that they're going away...
