Inspiration and Motivation

Are you struggling to keep up you're healthy diet and sufficient workout routine? You're not alone.
I have a little tip for you, though. It helps me quite a lot. Just when I'm thinking to myself 'I'm never going to stay in this shape, what's the point?', and reaching for that chocolate bar, I look over at my inspiration wall and my spirits are lifted. Basically, what I've done is flipped through my favourite magazines and cut out everything from ads, to celebrity posters, to random shots of people who's bodies I admire and stuck them on my wall, in a place where I know I'll always look.
Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway jogging together on the set of their new movie Bride Wars

Of course, everybody's inspiration is different. Mine is filled with this sort of stuff because I'm a teenager feeling the pressure of society (I know it's bad - I should be stronger, right?), but the basics are still the same: if something inspires you, surround yourself with it. Trust me, it will make you feel better.
Sure it may not work for everybody, but don't knock it till you've tried it right?

If visual motivation isn't exactly your thing, there's plenty of other options. Something I love doing, also, is going for a run or heading down to the gym with one of my best friends. She's a lot fitter than I am, which I thought would be a major problem when I first started working out with her, but it's turned out to be quite comforting. If I'm feeling lonely, I know she's there. And if I ever feel like some healthy competition to push myself just that much further, I know she's there. Lol.

Fergie and Josh Duhamel jogging together - perhaps this is the secret to their loving relationship?

So tell me - what inspires you?

Catch.

I like thisss. I don't know if I'll have time to cut out and make an inspiration wall, but it's definitely on my to-do list!

People, animals, trees, food, etc inspire me. I'm easily influenced. It's horrible!

I go to Hofstra University! It seems cool but it gets some getting used to.

I haven't been to yoga in so long too. This reminds me to do double time this weekend. Especially since I paid so much for one month!

My motivation is knowing that whenever you look good naked, you look even better dressed!
If you're interested, check out my blog. I'm in Melbourne too, Style Capital of Australia I say. :)

I always try to get my boyfriend to go on runs with me, but then he always finds an excuse not to like tiredness. I get motivated by health, I think about my future and things like diabetes and heart disease and then I think, what will 20 minutes of my day cost me, it may save me in the future :)

Inspiring post! I rarely work out nowadays, but Cath and I both used to be bun-heads when we were your age (25 hrs. of dance a week!). I was really inspired by people like Darcy Bussell and Alessandra Ferri (prima ballerinas). Sure they are super-skinny, but more importanly they have amazing strength and artistry– very inspiring.
Thanks for the post!

you should definitely try out the Brigitte Bardot look..I bet you'll work it ;)

when it comes to working out, I'm not as clever as I should be..though I do try to work out at least 3 times a week
hmm..my inspirations..lots of things inspire me at different times but right now I'm just thinking that summer and the bikini season is right around the corner ;p

Lots of things inspire me, but the main one is the women I see sweating and working hard at taking care of themselves. These photos remind me of the cool women who ride in my classes.

Also, women who compete as tri- and biathletes inspire me. That's real dedication.

loved your tips.
i've been meaning to make an inspiration board for a really long time, but haven't quite found the 'time' to do it.
it's the same with me going to the gym. I just always find something pointless to do instead.
well, first thing on my list tomorrow is to tear out a few pics from magazines and put on my wall. hope it works :)

That's such a great idea. I've been stressing about my weight recently as I've put on tons of weight since the summer... I came off some meds for my skin that I'd been on for ages and my hormones have gone wild. AHHHH! My skins fine though so hey, always a silver lining!

hannah: I'm glad the post had this effect on you! :) Ooh Mary-Kate and Ashley movies are the brst! (in a guilty pleasure sort of way. Lol.)

Secretista: no, no, no being easily influenced is a good thing! :) It encourages self-control, I find. Yes let me know how the yoga class goes...

Super Kawaii Mama: sure I'll definitely be checking out your blog!

On Track: excellent attitude to have towards exercise, motivation is key considering lack of it is the main reason behind people not doing it. Lol.

AsianCajuns: oh my 25 hours a week? Now that is commitment! I bet you guys were super fit. That's so true, often it's seen as 'wrong' to admire people like ballerinas because they're so skinny, but what some people don't realise is that in order to become a prima ballerina they do need to have incredible strength - something to be admired, for sure. :)

Picasso: yeah I didn't know either! Until the other day, that is. Lol.

Sunniva: yes there's probably more inspiration over at your end of the world, considering bikini season is closer for you that it is for us 'Southern Hemispherics' lol. Thank you, perhaps I will try my best Bardot? ;)

enc: that's a great inspiration goal, strong women. It's very realistic and will probably mean you'll stick at it for longer.

A Dreamer: oh wow thank you! That's very sweet. :)

Jen(mahalo fashion): Oh I know exactly what you mean about the time issue, although those with 'proper' full-time jobs would have less time than me, so anyone who manages to have a full-time job and still include some workout time then I admire you! ;)

jadorevogue: I'm so glad I could help out! That's wonderful feedback to hear! :)

Cellar Door: yes it's around this time of year when I start piling on the kilos too. Lol. Hopefully you've found some extra motivation now! :) Oh and btw, you're username reminds of the movie Donnie Darko, have you seen it?

Thanks everyone for all of your wonderful comments! :)
