...an April Vogue US cover, of course! When I first heard speculation about this cover (it was only last week, confirmation came very late this time around), I thought it was an extremely strange choice for a Vogue cover. But now I see it's a pretty awesome cover (LeBron looks a bit scary, though, and I'm not 100% sure about Gisele's dress), and if one were ever to choose a supermodel and an NBA star to put on the cover of their high fashion magazine, these two would be it. They are some of the most successful of their industries, after all.
Notice some of the headlines. One in particular is annoying me: You Are (not) What You Eat: Debunking Diet Myths. Vogue is a fashion magazine - not Women's Weekly. Does anyone else find this strange? Maybe I'm just nit picking but Vogue Australia is making the same mistakes too, except instead of confusing themselves with a lifestyle mag, they're confusing themselves with a teen mag.
Don't get me wrong, I love both of these types of magazines, and maybe it's just me, but I buy Vogue because it's supposed to be the how-to-translate-runway-trends bible not the how-to-get-your-boyfriend-back bible.
Having said all that, my addiction to Vogue remains the same. Lol. Let me know if you all are sick of hearing me express my annoyance at the Vogue teams' confusion.
Catch.

Hi Gorgeous
I just love your blog. I jump in every couple of weeks to read your updates. Fun, interesting, a good read....
Jane ;-)
this cover reminds me of Bono's and Christy Turlingtons ;-)
You make an excellent point concerning the diet article. My copy hasn't yet arrived, so I can't comment on what's IN the article, but I'll comment on the idea of it. I'm with you on this one: keep the diet and boyfriend-retrieval pieces out. Elle, Cosmo, and scores of others do that already. I prefer Vogue to be the un-tawdry voice in fashion mags, and to do exactly what you said—translate runway.
I'll even take it a step further and say that I bailed on Elle years ago because it was too "get-and-keep-a-man"-focused.
That was interesting, I didn't really pick up on that. Now that you've mentioned it, I totally agree. When you pick up vogue, you expect fashion news, photos, upcoming designers, photography, new faces, etc. not dieting facts.
I should pick up a copy of Vogue Australia this month just to be picky about these sort of issues. Not that I'm going to write it or anything. HAHA.
Yes, pretty nice cover, I reckon they shouldn't have given Gisele that dress, she could have worn something more sportish-ly sexy, and still look just as awesome as ever.
Oh, and I'll be happy to do a link exchange ;)
The cover kinda freaked me out at first, but it's an interesting duo. I could never get sick of you sharing your opinion, esp. when I agree with it lol.
First: Thank you for the very kind comments you left on my blog. I can only hope to aspire to such views =) I am so encouraged when I read comments like yours.
I like your blog very much. Funny but i was just thinking about this cover the other day. I can't say that I like it too much. I mean if you just look at it, visually, it's not very appealing...And not very well thought out.
Anyway, I hope you come back and visit again, and I would like to do the same...
;)

thanks for the nice comments,
and no, i am nowhere near being a professional photographer. i'm only just 15 after all :]
but thanks :]
& i don't know if i answered you about the header already, but i did it using paint.
i agree with you about vogue, and i found it odd how anna took a leap and put lebron & gisele on the cover. it seems like something that carine would do, not anna. maybe that's because carine put a drag queen and a supermodel on her cover in november ...
x.

It's a marketing strategy, I think. They want to market to Americans. Which sucks and makes no sense because it's a FASHION magazine, for FASHION lovers. I don't get it either.
Bikram yoga is hot yoga. It's yoga in a room ranging from 100-125 degrees. It's prettyyy intense. You sweat... ALOT. I lost a lot of weight within the first week, but I stoped because my week trial ran out, but I'm going back.
I like the cover and I agree with you on the headlines. I don't think I'll buy this issue for fashion since it's the 'shape issue'.
I think everyone is aware of "Vogue Team Confusion" (accurate phrase!). US Vogue just pisses me off these days; it's more of a lifestyle magazine these days which is why I don't think Anna Wintour is worthy of the fashion queen title she seems to hold. it's all leaves me rather bemused.
this just looks like a mens sports magaine cover to me..
This is actually really cool. I don't know, just feel like change is a good thing once in a while.
A lot of people have been bitching about this cover but I don't mind it either, I mean it isn't great but it's not that bad!
It is better than the average 'above shoulder shot' that is on most mainstreem mags
coughcoughMaireClaire
Chililady: oh dear Bono and Christy did a cover together?
A.N.: yes do pick up a copy of Vogue AUS, because as much as I bitch about it, lol, it's still a good read. Oh and don't worry, I never write in either. Lol.
Dollfaced Rebel: Oh thank you, it's hard to speak my mind sometimes, because I have a fear of confrontation-type situations. And that is most definitely not what I want my blog to turn into - it's just supposed to be fun, really. But thanks for the go-ahead! :)
riz: you're very welcome! I'll definitely be back! ;)
SICK: you're right it was more of a Carine move wasn't it? I expected the likes of Roger Federer or the like when it comes to Anna W.
discothequechic: that's very true, it does just look like a men's sports mag cover, doesn't it? Yes I guess I'll have to use the Vogue Team Confusion phrase more often, then! :)
coco: lol! I've never bought Marie Claire, but they're covers have always annoyed me.
Thanks for all the comments! :)
