Quote of the Week

"I’d rather have Moss admit, however crassly, that she monitors her weight to an extreme, because it's a sad fact that sickly thin still sells, rather than listen to size zero celebs enthuse about their junk-food habits like they exist in a magical La La Land wherein calories dissipate the moment food touches their tongue. Moss can have her philosophy, and we common plebes ours — buffalo wings and cookie dough taste much better than being grotesquely thin feels."
Lauren Bans's, of Double X, take on Kate Moss's recent weight comments.

I hate to admit it, but I kind of agree. It may be wrong, but at least it's honest. This honesty seems to be something we've lost somewhere along the way...

Kate Moss claimed to live by the motto "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." global backlash ensued. I wonder if she's regretting it now...?
Oh no I've lived in Melbourne my whole life. I've only ever been to sydney twice, but hopefully that will change now that I've finished school...

Yikes. Oh Kate Moss... I heard about Hemma same way you did. I was supposed to go to their viewing, but went to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show instead...

Oh. My. God. The jealousy is all-consuming, haha. As much as I complain that the show has declined in quality and the models just get less and less sexy each year, I would still LOVE to go to the show.
Tell me all about it!

Thanks for the comment lovely. The songs I have succumbed to are the likes of Ke$ha's Tik Tok and The Pussycat Dolls' remix of Jai Ho and even the really old Timbaland one that's always playing everytime I'm at a club, regardless of location or time. It's really quite shameful but goodness, I can't quite help myself. This is big for me, I was the kind of girl who would wear a paper bag on my head if I admitted I loved a song they overplayed on the radio.

I see Slow Club on your sidebar. I adore Slow Club. They are the epitome of sunshine songs and daisy chains. I salute you for that alone! x

I don't see what the big deal was about her saying that. If that's what she believes, that's fine with me. I care very much about my personal appearance - and I refuse to be part of the "common plebes" who eat cookie dough and buffalo wings! Yuck!

Granted, I will eat Chinese food whenever it is offered to me.

mud and bone: excellent songs, if you ask me. Never be ashamed of the music you listen to -- it's a completely personal choice. Oh yes Slow Club are a new find, and I adore them, also!

CoocooforCoco: I agree that the writer shouldn't have separated us into simply the Kate Moss's and the "common plebes" who eat buffalo wings, because there is much more variety than that (I, myself, would be somewhere in the middle, that's for sure). I think the issue that everyone seems to have with the comments is that it's all well and good for Kate Moss to do this, but to announce it to the public like this, when issues like eating disorders are the highest they've ever been, was a bit irresponsible. Like you, I don't think many people would have a problem with her doing this for herself, but to endorse this kind of mentality to the public (young girls especially) is what people are concerned about, I think. I appreciate her honesty, it's a nice change, but I do think it was a little bit irresponsible.
